Select a business idea and evaluate feasibility. check box
Conduct market research, develop a marketing strategy, and prepare a marketing plan. check box
Develop and write a business plan. check box
Consider a legal structure - sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation. check box
Prepare cash flow projections - revenues and expenses. check box
Determine financial needs to start and operate your business. check box
Identify financing sources - self, friends and family, equity, debt. check box
Establish a business location and satisfy local zoning requirements. check box
Select a name and register your business with appropriate local, state and federal agencies. check box
File for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) from the IRS. check box
Apply for state sales tax identification number. check box
Determine business insurance needs. check box
Establish a record keeping system. check box
Open a separate checking account for your business. check box
Pursue additional financing as needed. check box
